Each year, the Association of Fundraising Professionals pays tribute to individuals and organizations that make a difference in our lives, our communities, and our world through philanthropy. A true community leader, the Moorings Park Foundation received the prestigious 2021 Outstanding Philanthropic Organization Award. “We are so proud of this award. Our residents and board members are so generous, as they go above and beyond giving back to the collier Community and our organization’s employees. We are honored to be recognized with such a respected award,” said Dan Lavender, President and CEO, Moorings Park Institute.

In February 2021, the Foundation Board seized an unexpected opportunity to help the community when it awarded an emergency grant to the Hunger and Homeless Coalition of Collier County to house 17 homeless senior-age women who were discovered in Immokalee living in tents and cars.

In 2021 Residents Karl & Alice Sheffield provided a transformative matching gift up to $500,000. The  match was quickly met in full by the late Mr. Dick Glowacki. and his wife Barbara. 

In April 2022, your Foundation approved a pilot program to provide sliding gasoline subsidies to partners driving more than 3.5 miles to work in response to skyrocketing gas prices.

In June and July of 2022, your Foundation funded partners with two, $100 Publix gift cards to help with the rise of inflation.

In October of 2022, after the devastation Hurricane Ian left in our community, Moorings Park residents raised a remarkable almost $450,000.00 to help our partners in need. Because of this generous response, your Foundation has:

• • Provided 14 families with temporary housing at the newly acquired hotel.
  • Allowed for swift financial assistance to all partners who were displaced from their homes.
  • Funded the Moorings Park Assistance Relief Fund which covers home catastrophe, rental assistance, medical emergencies, loss of a vehicle or personal property. Several partners have already received funding and many are in the application process. The application will remain open until January 12, 2023.
