Resident Support

C&J Cafe and the Chateau Wind-Sculpture

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to original campus residents, John and Connie Rakoske, whose generosity made possible the renovation of the CHL Café – now known as the C&J Café – providing an inviting gathering place for our community. Their philanthropic vision also brought to life the Chateau Wind-Sculpture Plaza, a beautiful space that continues to bring joy to residents and guests alike.

Columbarium Expansion

The late Dennis Turner and his wife Dee helped to fund the building of a second columbarium wall for the internment of remains behind Bower Chapel. Their gift serves residents of all Moorings Park communities.

Fountain of Blessings

The serene fountain is located on the original campus at the entry of the clubhouse because of Bill & Mary Cuthbertson. Sadly, Bill passed away on November 17 of 2021. Before his death, Bill & Mary were able to renew their vows during the fountain dedication. Truly a beautiful tribute.

Korest Green Room at Bower Chapel

A beautiful addition to the Bower Chapel was made possible through the kindness of Alan Korest. The tranquil green room benefits all residents by providing a home to the many classes and study groups, which offering a space for performers who frequent the Bower Chapel. Sadly, Mr. Korest passed on June 4, 2022, but his generous legacy of giving will live in perpetuity.

Sheffield Theatre

Karl and Alice Sheffield are behind the Sheffield Theatre at the Center for Health Living. Their generosity and vision created a lovely space to gather for lectures and performances.

Veterans Memorial Plaza

The Veterans Memorial Plaza on the original campus honors the 160+ military veterans who live at Moorings Park communities. Alan and Dolly Korest, John and Susan Morrison, Karl and Alice Sheffield, and Bobbi Tolley funded this project that was designed in collaboration with the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.

Benevolent Care

Benevolent Care is a promise. A promise that no resident will ever have to leave Moorings Park if they outlive their financial resources. Your support ensures dignity, security, and peace of mind—now and for generations to come.

Music Therapy

The initial relaunch of the Music Therapy program at Moorings Park was made possible by residents, John and Connie Rakoske who generously matched gifts made to the Foundation. This supplemental funding allowed Moorings Park time to allocate operating budget costs to relaunch a permanent program.

Johns Hopkins Fellowship Program

Moorings Park partners with Johns Hopkins to offer a Geriatric Fellowship—12 months of training at Johns Hopkins and six months on our campus. Fellows are fully licensed physicians, enhancing our services while advancing excellence in geriatric medicine. This collaboration develops future geriatricians and brings best practices in Successful Aging to our community. Thanks to the generosity of John and Connie Rakoske, the fellowship is fully underwritten through 2025.

Friends of Bower Chapel & Friends of the Orchid House

Both Mooring Park funds support special projects, supplies and maintenance as needed.

Friends of Moorings Park Art

Established in 2012, the Friends of Moorings Park Art engages residents in art classes. Painting, drawing, and pottery are offered to residents on all campuses. This fund also provides supplies and training for OMA, or Opening Minds to Art, a nationally recognized program of art therapy for people living with dementia.

Friends of Woodshop

Located near the Clubhouse, the Wood Shop is available to residents of all Moorings Park communities. This fund was established in 2013 to provide extra supplies, equipment and resources for the Wood Shop.
